🍷 A Toast to Jim’s Retirement at Hyde Park

When Jim officially retired, we decided it was finally time to use the Hyde Park gift card our daughter Haley and her boyfriend Matthew gave us last Christmas. Knowing us, we needed a special occasion to justify a fancy dinner with oysters and crab cakes — and this was it!

Hyde Park in Nhttps://www.hydeparkrestaurants.com/orthville turned out to be the perfect choice for enjoying a splendid dish of oysters and crab cakes. It’s one of those upper-class but relaxed places — white tablecloths, soft lighting, and a crowd that ranges from business dinners to date nights. We felt right at home.

I started off with a cocktail called The BeeGee’s (yes, named after the band — and yes, it had honey in it). I enjoyed it so much I had four!
For appetizers, I ordered oysters and a crab cake, both absolutely delicious. Jim went with a 12 oz filet mignon, cooked exactly how a steak should be — tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned.

I couldn’t resist the porterhouse, which was closer to 22 oz of pure heaven — a mix of porterhouse and prime filet. We shared a one-pound baked potato (seriously, it could’ve fed a small family), plus generous servings of asparagus and brussels sprouts.

By the time we finished, we had enough leftovershttps://www.hydeparkrestaurants.com/northville-menu/ for two more meals. No chance for dessert — we were stuffed after indulging in delightful oysters and delicious crab cakes. Everything was wonderful from start to finish.

We didn’t take pictures (I’m new to this “reporting” thing), but we’ll do better next time. For now, I’ll share the menu below so you can see what all the fuss is about!
